The challenge for this kitchen project was to bring light and organization to a dark and uninspired space. The new large windows to the east are designed to bring morning light into the room which would otherwise be dark due to small existing windows and a dense surrounding forest. The project includes new cabinets and appliances, an island and a custom-poured glass countertop by Glassworks Inc. A new deck was added off of the kitchen and the large sliding window opens to create an indoor-outdoor pass-through for food, drink and social interaction. A ravine to the east of the property is a Great Blue Heron nesting habitat. Permission from the State Department of Fish and Wildlife was required before construction could begin on the project.
